Ciampino Airport Facilities

Whether you’re a first-time visitor to Rome or planning a return trip, you’ll want to know as much as possible about Ciampino airport to help make your journey as simple as possible. The mini guide below tells you all about what to expect if you’re flying in and out of this airport, which has one terminal and handles flights both domestic and international.

Hours of operation

The airport is open daily from 4.30am through to midnight, and unfortunately you cannot wait for your flight inside the airport when the check-in desks and other services are closed because the security staff makes everyone leave during those hours. As a result some people who are at the airport while it’s closed bring sleeping bags and wait outside until it opens.

During regular opening hours it’s important to know that seating in the airport is relatively limited so if you see an open spot you should quickly take it. It’s advisable to keep to your airline’s recommended time of arrival at the airport any not any sooner so that you can reduce your overall waiting time, just in case there are no seats available for you.
